| Bio: | ![]() “It's a sad thing not to have friends, but it is even sadder not to have enemies.” -- Che Guevara Dear Diary: Heather told me she teaches people "real life." She said, "real life sucks losers dry. You want to fuck with the eagles, you have to learn to fly." I said, "so, you teach people how to spread their wings and fly?" She said, "yes." I said, "you're beautiful!" "Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita." -Vladimir Nabakov's Lolita "Through literacy you can begin to see the universe. Through music you can reach anybody. Between the two there is you, unstoppable." - Grace Slick ![]() White Liberal Bingocredit
Libertarian Bingocredit ![]() Check it at the door. ![]() "[The President] should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918) "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron." -- General Dwight D. Eisenhower, April 16, 1953 "This is no simple reform. It really is a revolution. Sex and race because they are easy and visible differences have been the primary ways of organizing human beings into superior and inferior groups and into the cheap labour in which this system still depends. We are talking about a society in which there will be no roles other than those chosen or those earned. We are really talking about humanism." --Gloria Steinem “Radical simply means "grasping things at the root." --Angela Y. Davis "Resistance to tyranny is man's highest ideal." --Emma Goldman "No woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body." --Margaret Sanger “If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine.” --Che Guevara no really, about me: my friend michael says I'm a certified pwnologist. he's pretty awesome, so I suggest you take him at his word. I have a boyfriend named rob and we've been together since 1997. yes, I know that's weird; no, I don't know when we're getting married. sometimes life has a way of sneaking up on you, y'know? I am a bleeding heart with an intellectual hard-on for social justice movements. I like learning new things and expanding my vocabulary. my degree is in literature, but I've realized now that my academic heart is in cultural history. I planned on working in community development at Planned Parenthood when I grew up, or when I graduated, whichever came first, but some factors have impeded that plan and a little part of me is hankering to dive head first into another 6 years or so of school for American cultural history. In the meantime I am a coordinator for a social program for GLBTQ teens. it's an awesome job! I like to cook, and eat. I love watching movies and going to concerts. I like marching on washington and telling people when they are being ignorant. I tend to get socially ensnared with crazy people, but most of the time I manage to escape. I am a perennial academic underachiever and a master of trivia of all sorts. I have opinions on everything and am told on occasion that I don't respect the opinions of others, though this always seems to come up when I'm trying to show someone the error of their ways. I'm a bona fide pinko, pro-gay-rights, pro-choice, pro-drug legalization, feminist and a death penalty hatin', over read, card carrying member of the ACLU. I have a general aversion to most Libertarians, because they often seem to have lost any semblance of a heart, but I try to give everybody a chance. I believe that housing, food, education and comprehensive health care are all human rights. I'd be hard pressed to come up with any good reason for international war and find myself constantly frustrated by the US government's squandering of precious resources and influence on violence and posturing while American children go hungry, uneducated and ignored. I also have a torrid love/hate relationship with pop culture and mass media. I will watch hours of Fox News, in spite of my disgust for it (and most 24 hour news outlets). I not only talk to my TV, but I often find myself yelling at it. I consume massive amounts of pop culture, particularly those shocking schadenfreude reality tv bonanzas, but I make every effort to be conscious of everything I consume. I try to never stop thinking. I think historical context is one of the most important factors in virtually any discussion and American apathy toward our own history is one of my pet peeves. I spend too much of my time wondering if the U.S. is on the verge of collapse, and I'm not sure which outcome I'm hoping for. why do Liberals hate America? we're so mean. If you want to be my friend, probably all you have to do is ask. I very rarely turn people down. If you don't want to be my friend, take it here or go home. Either way, it's cool with me. Don't be so damn benign and don't waste my fucking time. -OKGo Just show me a moment that is mine Its beauty blinding and unsurpassed Make me forget every moment that went by And left me so half-hearted Cuz i felt it so half-assed -ani | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
